Oversized Items

Oversized waste can be brought to the Robin Hood Bay Waste Management Facility at 340 East White Hills Road:

Curbside Collection

We offer curbside collection of oversized garbage and metal items to residents of St. John’s once a year.

Before booking an appointment, please go through your intended waste items to determine if they are suitable to be used by someone else. There are many organizations that reuse all kinds of items from furniture to large children’s toys to lawn mowers, and more. Use the ‘Waste Wizard’ lookup to learn the options for reuse of your items.

Each household can schedule one oversized garbage and metal pick-up for the same day at no charge. You must make an appointment for items to be collected. Appointments are made by house address and one appointment is permitted each year: coordinate with all who live at the property to schedule an oversized pickup appointment for the address.

When booking your appointment please note: You can only book your oversized garbage and metal collection appointment for the same day and you must select your items you are putting to the curb for both oversized garbage and metal. You will receive a confirmation email for your appointment, and it is your responsibility to remember your appointment date.

To cancel or make changes to your appointment just follow the instructions in your email.

Before you book an appointment be sure what you have is considered oversized waste:

  • maximum size of 1.5m x 1.5m x 2.15m (5ft x 5ft x 7ft)
  • weighs less than 68 kgs (150 lbs)
  • does not fit inside a garbage bag or box

Before booking an appointment, if you have gently-used furniture and household items, please consider bringing them to the Residential Drop Off at Robin Hood Bay and placing them in the furniture donation bin. More information is available online: furniture reuse at Robin Hood Bay
